Ujjain goes modern with launch of wi-fi and lift services

MoS dedicates the facilities to passengers, Sinha also makes few significant announcements

Ujjain : Minister of State (MoS) for Railways, Manoj Sinha dedicated to the passengers modern wi-fi and lift facilities during a function organised at platform number one here on Tuesday. He on the occasion announced to run Indore-Pune Express daily and to make stoppage of Indore-Amritsar Express at Ujjain junction as well.

The Ministry of Railways was to provide wi-fi facility at Ujjain railway station and lift facility at platform number 2 and 3 in view of the Simhastha Mahakumbh-2016. Most of the preparations were made, but formal function could be arranged only on June 28; though chief guest of the programme and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot remained conspicuous due to his absence. It is said that such modern facilities have been provided to Ujjain after Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, so far. Railway’s PSU—Railtel—has entered into an agreement with the Google to provide the wi-fi service at 400 railway stations of the country. Escalator facility is also likely to be provided here this year.

During the function, the MoS was felicitated by tiding a Malvi turban on his forehead. Different employees unions and passenger associations welcomed him and submitted memoranda in support of their various demands. Expressing views Sinha said that the much-demanded broad gauze conversion work between Ujjain-Fatehabad station would be launched soon. He announced that the Indore-Pune Express which is operated five times in a week will be run every day. Two new trains Indore-Kochuveli (weekly) Express and Indore-Pune (bi-weekly) Express will also pass through Ujjain junction. Government will not leave any stone unturned to strengthen railway network in MP and Amritsar Express will be taken to Ujjain, he added. Presently it moved ahead through Maxi junction.

Those present on the occasion included Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya, General Manager, Western Railways, GC Agrawal, Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Sharma, Mayor Meena Jonwal, MLA Mohan Yadav, Municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot and BJP city president Iqbal Singh Gandhi among others. Sinha also visited Mahakaleshwar Temple to pay obeisance to the presiding deity. During his visit, a delegation of Pashchim Railway Karmachari Parishad met him and submitted a 9-point demand charter. Parishad president Kailash Bhawsar informed that fixation of minimum salary; re-start of all allowances; availabling increased bonus amount; quota to trackmen in different departmental examinations, etc, were made. Those present on the occasion included Shivlahari Sharma, Sunil Dubey, Ramesh Raghuwanshi and Laxminarayan Rajak among others.
